Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry

Job Summary and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a medicinal chemist to join our Molecular Discovery team at Ribon Therapeutics.  The person will be responsible for setting up Ribon’s internal chemistry labs.  The individual will manage an outsourced and internal chemistry team to meet project timelines and key deliverables along with spending at least 50% of his/her time in the lab contributing to compound synthesis.  The ideal candidate will have experience with management of chemistry CROs and previous experience setting up a chemistry lab. The candidate will also be responsible for the design and execution of a medicinal chemistry strategy to meet project objectives.  He/she will manage discovery programs with aggressive project deliverables and support structure-based design and data analysis for a drug discovery project.  The candidate will collaborate with other scientists outside of the Molecular Discovery Department as a project team member and as co-lead of a discovery project as well as serve as a scientific resource with expertise in synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry.  The desired candidate will possess excellent communication and presentation skills, with exceptional time management and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • B.S./M.S. (10+ years experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry) or Ph.D. (5+ years experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry) in synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or chemical biology;
  • Experience setting up a chemistry lab;
  • Experience managing synthetic chemistry CROs;
  • Experience leading projects as a medicinal chemistry lead
